Note that the USB Overdrive does not handle any Apple mouse, trackpad or keyboard. Haven't done this in a while, so can't confirm it works in the latest macOS. Then you can connect your third-party mouse, and those buttons on it will still perform the actions you set. I am still working with Apple to improve the scrolling experience. The Mighty Mouse has buttons 3 and 4, the scroll wheel click and side buttons squeeze respectively, and you can map those to custom actions. Usign 'Normal Mice' tab: Button 3 (Wheel Left) Button 4 (Wheel right) Usign 'Keyboard' tab: cmd + D (Back), which I assigned to 'Middle click'. The USB Overdrive works fine in macOS Monterey 12.x and Big Sur 11.1 to 11.6.x. USB Overdrive 5.1 is fully compatible with Monterey.
